Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Morristown, NJ.
Work You’ll Do
Provide compliance and consulting services to federal and individual clients. Provide effective diagnosis, solution, development and implementation of clients' tax needs. Develop and pursue creative strategies while using the latest technologies. Conduct day-to-day oversight of accounts by delivering all tax consulting services to the client and bringing in specialists when necessary. Oversee complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries. Participate in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Perform research and analysis of a wide-range of tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications of financing techniques. Perform tax planning responsibilities for our corporate and individual clients. Supervise assignments by the professional accountants serving as Consultants and Senior Consultants. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas.

Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Taxation, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Five years of experience computing federal and local research and development (R&D) tax credits.
- Experience must include five years of:
- Providing client advice related to strategies to maximize global, federal, and local tax incentives, and writing tax memoranda on specific tax issues for tax incentives;
- Performing quantitative and qualitative research, including tax research, project summaries, department overviews, activity descriptions and methodology memos;
- Analyzing complex client data utilizing Excel to compute Federal and local R&D tax credits and government incentives, and preparing the adequate tax schedules using tax return software;
- Reviewing calculations within Access and Excel and utilizing tax software, including Superforms, to streamline and automate tax reporting processes for clients;
- Leading interviews with various client Subject Matter Experts to understand and identify qualified activities to substantiate R&D tax credits in accordance with legislation and government incentives;
- Responding to R&D and government incentives audits by preparing work papers;
- Analyzing clients’ data and developing R&D credit methodologies by building cost modelling, cleaning, appending, consolidating and formatting large sets of data as per client needs;
- Preparing work flows in analytic process automation platforms, and overseeing the manipulation and cleaning of client data to increase the efficiency of building cost models for credit studies; and
- Overseeing all stages of the engagement lifecycle, including the preparation and review of qualitative technical reports with respect to IRC Section 41 for R&D tax credits.
