Description:
Holland & Knight is seeking an Area Development Manager to develop proactive, coordinated and accountable marketing direction and support for the local and/or regional attorneys' marketing efforts. As a member of the firm's marketing department, the Area Development Manager will work collaboratively with partners, marketing colleagues and business leaders to develop and implement marketing and business development activities for the assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage multiple marketing and practice development efforts in the firm’s Nashville, Birmingham and Chattanooga offices to ensure they are in alignment with the firm’s focus and objectives.
- Provide local/regional administrative marketing support including new hire orientation, budgets, photo administration, local office invoice administration, etc.
- Along with the firm’s events team, coordinate and execute on local events. Examples include breakfast briefings, seminars, receptions, open houses and trade shows.
- Track local marketing activity and include information in weekly transmission.
- Develop partnering relationships with local industry and legal trade associations.
- Identify high profile opportunities and secure speaking, panel positions and leadership roles for attorneys; drive attendance and positioning at events where attorneys are speaking on panels.
- Maintain and respond to directory listings and respond to local/regional surveys, such as largest litigation firms, largest healthcare law firms, etc. in local Business Journals. Track local awards and related deadlines to ensure the firm is nominating its people for applicable awards, such as 40 under 40, Best of the Bar, etc.
- Partner with attorneys and marketing colleagues to develop, design and maintain collateral materials, including brochures, deal or case lists, practice descriptions and other Website content.
- Prepare annual local/regional marketing expenses budget and monitor and control marketing and business development expenditures throughout the year.
- Assist with the local offices’ diversity and inclusion efforts, including the Women’s Initiative local program.
- Coordinate local Community Service initiatives, including attorney involvement on local non-profit boards and the firm’s investment in community programs.
- Assist with miscellaneous activities in support of attorneys based in the Nashville, Birmingham and Chattanooga offices as needed, such as PowerPoint presentations for speaking engagements.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years related experience within the legal or professional services marketing environment.
- Strategic, high energy; results and detail oriented.
- Diplomacy, cooperation, follow through.
- Take an ownership approach to the assigned practice areas.
- Essential requirements include exceptional communication (oral and written), organizational and project management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Strong writing and editing skills, professionalism, flexibility, and advanced capability in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
- Position requires ability to work a flexible schedule with some local travel.
- Budget experience a plus.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree.
