Summary

As the Events Manager, you will play a critical role in bringing our vision to life and support corporate objectives by actively coordinating, supporting and executing memorable events and experiential initiatives. Your main focus will be on internal, employee events, while supporting external events (conference sponsorship and standalone events) on an ad-hoc basis.

While operating in the fast-paced and exciting field of technology and blockchain, the successful candidate will manage both virtual and physical events that educate, engage, and drive growth within our internal and external communities. You will be responsible for supporting the execution of every aspect of event planning, from conceptualizing themes to managing logistical arrangements, and evaluating success post-event.

Duties

  • Manage end to end process for internal event requests (leadership meetings, workshops, meetups) from service desk ownership (currently in Jira), to qualifying the request, budget adherence, vendor management, event delivery and post event tracking.
  • Partner with our culture officer to ensure that key elements of company culture are embedded into each event, fostering a feeling of belonging.
  • Identifying synergies between internal events and wider community outreach
  • Plan, organize, and execute various types of external events such as conferences, trade shows, seminars, webinars, product launches, and social gatherings related to the technology and blockchain industry.
  • Cross line of business collaboration (marketing, community, product teams, talent, culture, internal comms) to ensure all event activities align with and support broader business objectives.
  • Coordinating with vendors, venues, and other external partners to manage event logistics such as site selection, contract negotiation, registration, equipment, catering, etc.
  • Managing event budgets, ensuring maximum ROI while maintaining the highest standard of event execution.
  • Evaluating event success based on participant feedback, attendance, and other key metrics, and using insights to improve future events.

Key competencies

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such (Jira or similar).
  • Creative in adding value to internal events and enhancing company culture.
  • High level of initiative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of, and experience working in, a remote environment across multiple teams.
  • Proficiency in handling multiple tasks and priorities across various workstreams, striking a balance between meticulous attention to detail and pragmatic execution.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrable track record of managing event budgets and contracts.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and flexibility in work hours, as event execution may require.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the technology and blockchain industry.

Education / Experience

  • Experience in event management, preferably in the technology and blockchain industry.
  • Experience in working with remote teams and fostering cross-team collaboration to deliver on shared objectives.
  • Proficient in the use of project management technology and digital marketing tools.
  • Familiarity with the technology and web3/blockchain landscape, trends, and key players would be highly advantageous.

Location

IOG is a fully distributed organization but due to team distribution, we require someone to be based either in Ireland or the UK.
