Latham & Watkins, a global law firm consistently ranked among the top firms in the world, is seeking a Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic team in our Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

About The Role

As a Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for performing basic accounting and accounts payable duties which require familiarity with accounting practices and procedures, and knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing accounts payable invoice batches entered into the firm accounting system by US practice offices for accuracy and adherence to established firm policies and procedures
  • Executing data entry for the Global Services Office (GSO) and non-US practice offices
  • Providing month-end disbursement estimates to be used for Partner Draw
  • Tracing transactions through previous accounting/billing actions to determine source of discrepancies
  • Examining accounting documents for completeness and mathematical accuracy and making appropriate adjustments
About You

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude
  • Have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Possess knowledge of bookkeeping procedures such as posting, balancing, debits and credits, and journal entries
And have:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in Accounting or related field preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years relevant accounting experience in a legal or professional services environment
  • Knowledge of Elite, Chrome River, or Elite 3E
Compensation & Benefits

Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also receive a generous and competitive total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and location. Discretionary bonuses may be awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance — and profit-sharing partnership contributions to 401(k) accounts may be given based on firm performance.
