About The Role

The Attorney Support Specialist / Legal Secretary is an integral part of Latham’s Attorney Support team. This role will be responsible performing a variety of secretarial duties of a confidential nature for attorneys and/or managers while maintaining positive contact with clients, attorneys, and staff at all times, while providing comprehensive secretarial support for attorneys, requiring knowledge of the subject matter relevant to the attorney practice area. This role will be located in our London office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively managing the new matter opening process, conflict checks, and drafting engagement letters
  • Managing the billing process to produce drafts and revisions, ensuring the submission of client billings
  • Liaising with Revenue Management in relation to attorney billing
  • Managing attorney communications as requested (e.g. understanding attorney preferences with regards to answering the phone/taking messages/using voicemail, instant messenger, responding to e-mail, processing postal mail, setting up videoconferences, etc.)

  • Display well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients and staff at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Possess the ability to work in a team environment with a client service focus
  • Exhibit the organisational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines

And have:

  • A GCSE & A-Level (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of five (5) years legal secretarial experience within a legal practice group
  • Knowledge of Chrome River, Outlook, 3E, Cisco Phone, Intapp (DTE), InterAction, Event Management System (EMS), and specific technology as assigned
  • Knowledge and proficiency in PC applications required, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
