Investment Data Analyst
Nasdaq
As an Investment Data Analyst on our Data Solutions team, you’ll be responsible for managing relationships with Asset Managers, Consultants, Investors, and internal teams to ensure that our database offers the information that eVestment clients and prospects need to make investment decisions. We are the storefront window for the Institutional Investing community, and our Data Solutions team discovers, attracts, and curates comprehensive data from Asset Managers on public market investment strategies that our clients and prospects care about.
With this position we offer:
You’ll look to curate, expand, and leverage a multitude of datasets to provide world-class data and intelligence to the institutional asset management industry. You will be responsible for managing and driving various data analysis efforts to evaluate our manager and product coverage and strengthen our data quality. You’ll ensure the success of these projects by taking ownership of deliverables, prioritizing, and coordinating work across your team. You’ll also act as an investment consultant, diving deep into datasets by leveraging your analytical and technical skills to enforce a level of data accuracy that creates value for our clients. You will constantly look to identify opportunities to enhance eVestment datasets and automate the processes that support them.
Your role and responsibilities:
We want to hear about how you’ve successfully prioritized, planned, and executed on research projects pertaining to data analysis and investment data in the past. You’ll enjoy engaging across departments and have an interest in effectively managing stakeholder and client relationships by consulting them for their input, confidently addressing their needs, and informing them of issues and progress. You’ll serve as an expert on institutional investment and eVestment data, providing triage on problems and educating clients and colleagues alike on how to understand data points and our methodology. You will step in to assist your peers and our clients when they have questions, and possess the innate curiosity required to seek out an answer when you don’t have one.
What it isn’t: It is not linear, nor is it task-focused. If you are most effective in a highly structured setting with well-defined, prescribed steps in sequential order, you are likely to feel frustrated with continuously shifting priorities in the highly agile environment we offer. This role isn’t a pure data analysis or modeling role where you’ll spend most of your time in front of a computer screen working independently. While these are elements of the role, this role will be very interactive and visible. We love technology, data, and metrics, as well as client interactions. This role isn’t routine or unhurried. If you prefer relaxed, quiet days or don’t have a well-developed sense of urgency, it would be best to pass on us and keep looking.
We expect you to have:
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated ability in the institutional investment field and will have a deep understanding of equity, fixed income, and alternative investments
Consistent track record of professional and academic success, leadership, and service
Passion for finance, investing, and data with a desire to continuously expand knowledge in these areas (e.g. industry trends, investment courses, or industry certifications)
Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to deliver training, respond to complex inquiries, and handle difficult conversations with clients
An authority in Microsoft Excel (Macros, pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
Data-driven and analytical, someone who is able to consume, interpret, and summarize large datasets
Exhibits servant leadership, able to set aside personal projects and priorities to support colleagues and help them be successful
It would be great if you also have:
Experience with eVestment or with Institutional Asset Management (e.g. with an asset manager, consultant, investor, or financial data provider) is a plus
Progress towards CFA or CAIA, or equivalent job experience
Experience with SQL is a plus
