Steptoe & Johnson LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Accounting & Finance Department. Responsible for general accounting activities of the firm, including but not limited to journal entries, local statutory accounting and reporting for international offices, account reconciliation and analysis, procedure documentation, and other work as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Analyzing accounts and recording appropriate journal entries
  • Prepare materials to support international financial operations of the firm including intercompany reconciliations
  • Preparation of various schedules for the annual external audit
  • Create and maintain documentation of accounting team procedures
  • Assist in accounting and finance projects
  • Back-up to other members of the General Accounting group in their absence
Non-Essential Functions
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • College Graduate with major in Accounting
  • CPA licensed or eligible for CPA. Must receive license within 18 months of start date
  • One to three years in accounting environment with progressive financial analysis experience. Professional services experience preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word
Work Environment
  • Non-Smoking Environment
  • Available to work in the Washington, D.C. office 2-3 days per week
  • Must be able to comply with all safety requirements in our workplace, which may include provision of proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 and adherence to other safety protocols implemented
