About this role:

The Home Lending Credit Risk team oversees the credit policy and risk management activities for a $1T Home Lending portfolio. The Home Lending Risk team is responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategic initiatives and processes to drive the company credit culture, risk appetite, and business performance. Home Lending Valuations Risk Management has an opportunity for a highly motivated and talented risk professional to improve risk strategies in Valuations by performing various complex activities related to business analysis.

Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills, high degree of initiative, strong partnering and interpersonal skills, solid project/process management skills, as well as critical analytical thinking and SAS coding skills. Qualified candidates must also possess a results driven attitude committed to quality work.


In this role, you will:

  • To be effective in this position, you will need a good understanding of credit, a broad and strategic perspective on risk management, and be fluent in key technical tools of credit risk decisioning
  • Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives, and deliver insight and decision strategies within analytics and reporting, and contribute to large-scale planning related to Risk Analytics
  • Review and analyze moderately complex data aggregation, forecasting, and reporting
  • Be responsible for process production, data reconciliation, and documentation in alignment with policy governance
  • Resolve data, report production and lead team to meet Risk Analytics deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of risk reporting policies, credit strategies, procedures, regulatory requests, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, experienced managers, compliance, and technology to resolve forecasting, and production issues, and achieve analytic and reporting goals
  • Lead projects, teams, and mentor less experienced staff
  • Partner with cross enterprise risk analysts in development of common credit risk strategies
  • Performing more complex analysis and/or monitoring of rule sets that maximizes the effectiveness of valuation routing;
  • Providing analytical support on valuation strategies and policies to ensure company goals are met;
  • Segmenting and monitoring valuation use, and making recommendations to management based on those trends;
  • Producing performance monitoring and benchmarks regarding product use, accuracy, efficiency and overall effectiveness and performance;
  • Coordinating the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for senior management;
  • Reviewing and analyzing trends in current population distributions and recommending strategies


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Required Qualifications, International:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative fields such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, economics, econometrics or computer sciences
  • 3+ years of experience in credit risk analytics
  • 3+ years of advanced programming experience in SAS, SPSS, R or Python
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong technical skills and problem solving skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills, high degree of initiative, strong partnering and interpersonal skills, as well as critical analytical thinking
  • Ability to conduct reconciliation efforts and report findings in support of research activities
  • Must possess a results driven attitude committed to quality work.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Flexibility with changing priorities
  • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management


Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in quantitative discipline
  • Experience within the US Home Lending environment
  • Familiarity with account/portfolio management within the banking industry
  • Demonstrated excellence at developing sound credit processes and enhancing existing processes
  • Proficiency with SAS macros and experience in leveraging macros to make processes more efficient
  • Knowledge of SQL & data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Ability to identify and manage complex issues and negotiate solutions within a geographically dispersed organization
  • Ability to research and report on a variety of issues using problem solving skills
  • Understanding of bank data sets and other industry data sources
