About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Market Risk Officer for its Wholesale Counterparty Credit Risk team, responsible for underwriting and risk managing a portfolio of regulated non-bank financial institutions, including broker-dealers, mortgage real estate investment trusts, mortgage originators, etc.) that are active in capital markets trading with the various affiliates of Wells Fargo. Wholesale Counterparty Credit Risk (WCCR), a unit of Independent Risk Management (IRM), is responsible for underwriting counterparty credit limits for certain institutional client types - mostly non-bank financial institutions, including: asset managers (regulated funds, SMA's), leveraged funds (hedge funds, private equity funds), CCP's, GSE's, mortgage REIT's, mortgage originators, and certain broker-dealers. WCCR is one of the primary credit underwriting and portfolio management teams covering capital market traded products for Wells Fargo's Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). This role will focus on counterparty credit analysis for broker-dealers and mortgage real estate investment trusts that transact with Wells Fargo in CIB's Markets Division.
In this role, you will:
Focus on counterparty credit for regulated non-bank financial institutions, in supporting a range of traded products. This business activity may include, but is not limited to futures & OTC clearing, bilateral derivatives, foreign exchange, repo, securities financing, and secondary loan trading.
Conduct due diligence with regulated non-bank financial institutions, writing initial and annual credit reviews, setting and approving credit limits, monitoring client financials, approving bespoke trades and/or margin levels, monitoring margin calls, and escalating concerns to senior risk managers and business leaders.
May also support senior credit officers in credit coverage for large financial institutions and with portfolio management tasks, such as portfolio reviews and periodic exposure reporting.
Have a meaningful amount of external client contact and interaction with internal business partners in the firm's Corporate & Investment Banking Markets Division, with an emphasis on making sound risk decisions commensurate with the firm's risk management framework.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, capital markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
B.S./B.A. degree or higher
Experience with broker-dealers and mortgage real estate investment trusts.
Extensive knowledge of capital markets and counterparty credit risk, including the major financing and OTC traded products.
Experience with FCM, Repo, Foreign Exchange, and other financing or clearing businesses for leveraged funds.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities.
Knowledge of and experience with negotiating credit points in primary trading legal documentation (ISDA, MRA, FCSA, etc.)
Experience with financial statement analysis
Ability to partner with a wide range of colleagues including sales, trading, legal, market risk, and operations teams.
Demonstrated commitment to risk management and core values of the organization.
