Our Claims Consultant is responsible for assisting in the oversight and management of the General Liability Claims Program and associated claims as well as assisting in the management of other claims for the Company including property, auto, aviation, foreclosure, and international. This position also participates in the execution of certain aspects of the risk management process which includes: providing direction to our third party claims administrator (TPA), providing authority on claim settlements, implementing processes and procedures and workflows within the program while providing an excellent customer experience both internally and externally. In this position you will participate in enterprise emergency coordination calls for specific events (fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc..), as well as audits, claim reviews, training, and collaboration efforts with internal business lines on claim communications, procedures and results.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the employer point of contact and manage complex high exposure bodily injury and property claims filed in all fifty states.
  • Provide oversight to our third-party claim administrator related to claims strategies, analysis, risk mitigation, and financing, and ensure established claims service instructions, processes and procedures are appropriately followed.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to move claims to resolution which includes Wells Fargo policy interpretation, contract and lease reviews, and third party's adherence to special account instructions. This position involves exposure to sensitive information and requires considerable use of tact, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Analyze qualitative or quantitative data for the possibility of loss and the potential impact to the program and company.
  • Provide education, mentoring and training throughout consultative interactions with parties involved such as employees, managers, legal, security etc. This position serves as a liaison throughout the general liability claim process.
  • Manage deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of claims management procedures, programs and related systems
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with all involved parties internally and externally to facilitate timely and appropriate claims resolutions.
  • Lead projects, claim reviews and provide guidance to other claim consultants in the department. May assist with parts of program management.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of general liability with bodily injury and overseeing litigation experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education at an employer, broker, third party claim administrator or insurance company.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree
  • Proven experience managing complex general liability claims involving bodily injury and litigation in a risk management department, insurance company, TPA or broker.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience working with legal defense counsel.
  • Working knowledge of the legal system and tort law, applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Experience relationship building across multiple lines of business with strong collaboration and partnering skills.
  • Highly skilled in professional verbal and written communications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including those related to conflict resolution
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work effectively independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong negotiation and leadership abilities and articulating complex issues and workable strategies.
  • Experience with claim mediation settlements and providing oversight to TPA’s.
